This is just a 2 Step tutorial (not really). So simple. Just follow the
instructions carefully and
nothing would go wrong.
1st Step: Go to your "Device Manager", on the
"Profiles" tab and make
this server profile
Quote :
Server Name: Nokia
Firmware Update
Server
Server ID: Nokia
Nokia Server
Password: firmupservpass
Access point: Smart
Internet(if you are a
smart subscriber) or
MyGlobe inet(if you
are a globe subscriber)
Host Address: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] dms.update.nokia.
com/dms/omadm Port: 443
User name: nokiams
Password:
nokiamspass
Allow configuration:
Yes Auto-accept all
requests: Yes
Network
authentication: No
Leave the rest
untouched
Then save it.
2nd step: " Check for Updates " located on the "Updates" tab of your
"Device manger"
After inquiring updates,
it will automatically
download the latest
firmware for your product code. This will
take about 3-15mins
depending on your
download speed. In my
case, it took 3mins to
download the firmware. This may sound suspicious,
but yeah, it took 3mins to
download the supposedly
79mb firmware. I was
wondering too how my
phone downloaded the 79mb firmware in 3mins.
My theory is maybe
"Nokia" compressed it to it's minimum size to make FOTA (Firmware update On The Air) possible or
maybe it didn't download
the whole 79mb firmware,
perhaps it only
downloaded the part of
the firmware that my current firmware version
lacks..
After the download is
finished, it will prompt
you whether you will
update now or update later, and when you choose
the update now, it will
prompt you again to back
up your files before
updating cause updating
your firmware will erase all the data stored in your
phone. In my case, it did
erase all the data but since
I backed up my files, I
restored all the data back
to my phone. This time, it will prompt
you again to start the
firmware update. After
you press the "left soft
key" which is "Yes", the
update will begin. The phone will restart itself,
with a blank screen and a
loading bar on it's center.
The loading bar represents
the update process. This
will take 5-15mins. After the update is finished,
your phone will restart
again.
Then key in *#0000# and
be surprised that your
phone's firmware is already at it's latest
version.
Anyways, you must have LOAD to connect to the internet and download
the latest firmware. I
recommend you to update
very early in the morning
to achieve fast and smooth
connection.
